Mark Scott Harry entered fully into the presence of the Lord Tuesday November 8, 2022, in the early morning hours. Mark was a beloved Son, Brother, Uncle and friend.
Mark was born on January 5, 1970, in Pampa, Texas to Robert Yates Harry and Donna Jean Christmas Harry. Mark was the youngest of five children born to the Harry’s.
The family later moved to the Houston area where Mark attended the Greenwood Elementary in the Klein ISD district in the suburbs of Houston. Mark played little league baseball, football and was a member of the Bammel Road Church of Christ where he and his family worshipped.
When Mark was 13 the family moved to Bakersfield, California and then later Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Mark was active in his church the Sand Springs Church of Christ and was a member of the FFA chapter at the Charles Page High School where he participated by raising livestock for competition. Mark graduated from High School in 1988.
Mark attended Oklahoma University. He continued his education after later moving to Conroe, Tx to be near his family. Mark graduated college from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Upon graduation he began his career as a correctional officer at the Texas Department of Corrections. He was stationed at various prisons in the Huntsville area. Later he transferred to the Federal Bureau of Prisons where he was assigned to a federal prison in Colorado. Mark loved Colorado and had hoped to live there again one day. He later moved to the Bastrop, Texas area to again be near family. He worked at a local federal prison where he later retired.
Mark loved his family and was committed to his parents. He was known as a prayer warrior at his church and regularly prayed for family, friends and others in need.
Survivors include his parents Bob and Donna Harry, brothers Tim Harry of Montgomery, Tx, David Harry of California, sister Lori Harry Sapp of Ft. Worth, Tx, nephews Eric Sapp, Kyle Sapp and Ashton Harry, Nieces Alexa and Brianna Harry. Extended family and many friends. And Mark’s beloved cat “Cupcake”.
Mark was preceded in death by his brother Steven Yates Harry.
The family will celebrate his life and lay him to rest in Iola, Kansas at a later date.
