Antoine Davant Madere Jr. known as "Tony" was born in Laplace Louisiana July 5th, 1938. He married his high school sweet heart Mary Ann Cambre October 3rd, 1959.
Tony earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from LSU while in ROTC where he was the rifle team captain. His military service in the US Air Force started in 1961. He served in Strategic & Tactical Air Command as a B52 Navigator & Electronic Warfare Officer early in his military career and later as Computer Operations Officer. He also certified as a private pilot in the mid 1960s. In 1981 he retired as a Major having received military honors and awards including: Air Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship award, Air Force Longevity Service ribbon with 4 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, RVN Campaign Medal, Air force Commendation medal and Meritorious Service medal.
After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Wang Computer for 10 years as a system analyst and in a technical sales support role. Following Wang, he worked for the State of Texas, Department of Information Resources for 10 years evaluating technology solutions for state agencies.
In his free time he was an artisan and craftsman creating countless woodworking projects from lamps and decorative items to furniture. He enjoyed designing his own tools and equipment as well as using them to create gorgeous projects. He made exquisite rosaries with exotic beads including some beads he made. He also enjoyed acrylic painting and sketching, camping, fishing, hunting, skeet shooting and was passionate about organic gardening.
Active in various Catholic church ministries over a 50 year period, he served as Eucharist Minister, Religious Education Teacher, Lector and RCIA instructor. He also participated in the Fatima traveling Madonna program, Blue Army and Knights of Columbus. Additionally, he restored statues and art for many churches.
Following a lengthy and heroic battle with cancer, Tony went peacefully to meet our Lord on All Souls day, November 2nd, 2016.
Tony was preceded in the death by his parents Antoine D. & Gerdie Madere and brother Clyde Madere. He is survived by his wife Ann of 57 years, his seven children: Wendy Winkler (Jerry), Jeffrey Madere (Angelique), Whitney Madere (Kathy), Mark Madere, Bonnie Humphrey (Devon), Gregory Madere (Jennifer), Jenny Carpenter (Robert) and siblings: Patty Watson , Warren Madere, Arlene Entremont and Yvonne Rongy. Tony had 17 grandchildren: Lindsi Graham (Brandon), Craig Winkler, Joshua Madere, Justin Madere, Brian Winkler, Theresa Barrera (Joseph), Jenna Madere, Julia Madere, Andrew Humphrey, Jessica Madere, Dillon Humphrey, Kody Madere, Christopher Madere, Jameson Madere, Joseph Madere, Owen Carpenter and Johnathan Carpenter and 5 great grandchildren.
The Rosary will be at 7:00pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Sacred Heart with graveside Military Honors following at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rockne, Texas.
