Betty Sue Carter (Hawkins) , 73, of Cedar Creek , Texas passed away peacefully Tuesday , September 12th 2023 surrounded by her Family.
Betty Sue was born in Austin , Texas to Bernard and Billie Hawkins. She Married her childhood sweetheart Bruce Carter in April 1968 and moved to Cedar Creek, Texas in 1984. Their marriage endured for 54 years and 5 months to the day.
Betty Sue was a loving wife, sister , aunt and great aunt who never knew a stranger. With her infectious smile and laughter she made everyone feel welcome. Her mission in life was to teach children to know the lord and that was one of her greatest accomplishments. She found so much joy doing God’s work in MWU, Highland Lakes Baptist Encampment and many Vacation Bible Schools. If you ever needed anything, Betty Sue would do whatever she could to help.
Betty Sue is survived by her husband Bruce Carter of Cedar Creek, Sister Brenda Waneck (Jerry) of Rosanky, Nephew Shorty Johns (Crissye) of Elgin , Neice Amanda Rucker ( Cody ) of Taylor . Also her great nieces Staci , Jayme, Cayli , Ashtyn and great nephew Trent. Betty Sue is proceeded in death by her parents Bernard and Billie Hawkins, and brother Buddy Hawkins.
Services will be Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9am, the funeral service will begin at 10:00am with burial following at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the Cedar Creek Community Center Pavilion following the graveside services.
Pallbearers will be Shorty Johns, Cody Rucker, Kadin Watson, Connor Watson, Dillon Carter, Justin Carter, and Ethan Carter.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the Adam's Family for their love and support, the caring and devoted staff of St. Davids Hospital and Christopher House.
