Charles E. "Chuck" Kennedy, age 85, of Bastrop was called from this life on March 2, 2018
at his home among his family. Chuck was born June 6, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama to
Ralph and Addie Belle Kennedy. On March 13, 1961 he wed Jean Pettit.
Chuck served in the US Army during the Korean War. He then went to work as a truck driver
and drove for the same company until his retirement exactly 40 years later on the anniversary
of his employment.Chuck enjoyed building bird houses and occasionally sold some of them.
He also enjoyed working outdoors in the yard around the house.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Ralph Kennedy, Jr. and Ray Kennedy; a sister
Frances Kennedy Reynolds; and a grandson, Charles Kennedy III.
Chuck is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Stella Jean Kennedy; son, Charles and wife Lisa Kennedy;
daughter, Shari and husband Dave Pelton; grandson, Robert and wife Melanie Gray; granddaughter,
Sara and husband Josh Uherik; great-grandson, Zachery Kennedy White; sisters, Dot and husband
Marlin Alford, Janet and husband Nick Molinaro, and Janice Kennedy; brothers-in-law, Donald and
wife Jean Pettit, James Pettit, Jr. and Charles Dulaney; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas
on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Funeral Services will be 1:00pm Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the funeral
home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Bastrop County
Honor Guard.
