Clara Burk

Clara Anne Burk, 78, of Smithville, Tx, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with the Lord, Monday, February 8, 2021, 4:56 p.m., at Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle, Texas after complications following a vehicle accident.

Clara Anne Burk was born on September 6, 1942 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents Itasca and John Davis Burrows Sr, brother John Davis Burrows Jr, her niece Kimberly Taylor, and her great grandson Carter Joseph Wilson.

Clara Anne was raised with her brother John and sister Peggy in San Antonio, Bexar county Texas.

She studied Business Administration at Bethany Nazarene College as well as studied Accountancy at Draughon's Business College.

Clara proudly served in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class for 20 years while raising her five daughters. During her years of service, she earned the honors of Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Commendation Medal First OLC, Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal Third Award, NCO Professional Development Ribbon 3, National Defense Service medal, Retirement lapel button, Marksman, and Marksmanship Badge Rifle. She retired from service in 1993.

Clara was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Smithville, Texas. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing Klondike, as well as Bingo with Merilyn and their good friends where she was affectionately referred to as Sarge. She would also tell you she loved seeing her beautiful family whether enjoying them in person or in pictures!

Clara is survived by her five daughters, Kelley Sabo (Bill), Lisa Deans (David), Sheila Ward (James), Ann Michelle Geisendorff (Graeme), and Terri Bruder (Tim). She is a very proud Grandmother of 21 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Clara is also survived by her sister, Peggy Taylor (Lynn), her niece and nephew, and their 3 grandchildren. Clara is also survived by her best friend, roommate, and Bingo buddy Merilyn Wessels, their dogs Missy and Pistol, and their cat Miss Kitty. Clara was well known for her wit, intelligence, way with numbers, her sass, bluntness, ability to tell it like it is, she also had an uncanny ability to open your eyes and see past your own stubbornness to see the other side, she was a fierce protector of her family as well as her country. She always honored the office of the presidency due to her military discipline, to say she was a patriot simply does not do her justice. She was loved tremendously and will be missed by so many, especially her five beautiful daughters and loves of her life as she referred to them. She is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior for all eternity, hallelujah!
