Cristela Alvarez

Cristela Blanca Alvarez Born March 19, 1946 in Anson, TX passed away on May 29, 2019 in Austin, TX.

Cristela is preceded in death by her father, Benito B. Peña; mother, M. Hortencia Peña; brother, Raymond P.; sister, Sofia T.; 2 grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.


Cristela is survived by her husband Lucio Alvarez; daughters, Louann Montano and Rebecca Lozano; sons, Roberto Elizondo Jr. & J. Amado Elizondo. Cristela is also survived by 3 brothers; 2 sisters; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.


She was an active member at Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop, TX.


Cristela loved to dance, bake, tend to her garden, and to sew. She enjoyed teaching CCD classes at church. Cristela loved being surrounded by her beloved family. She had a great personality and would light up any room with her presence.

Cristela left us all with great memories & a mothering love. She will be greatly missed.
