Curtis Elroy Osborn of Red Rock went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2023. Curtis was born to Lonnie L. Osborn and Winnie V. Osborn on March 22, 1934.
Curtis was preceded in death by his sons; Dale C. Osborn and Ted L. Osborn; his parents; Lonnie L. Osborn and Winnie V. Osborn and brothers Wayne Osborn and Derwood Osborn.
Curtis is survived by his children Sherry Wright (Tracy) of Hutto, Wanda Rucker (Johnny) of Bastrop, Pam Andrade of Crosby and daughter in law Linda Osborn of Bastrop.
Curtis is also survived by multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Curtis enlisted in the Army National Guard on November 14, 1951 and proudly served his country until his retirement over 42 years later on March 22, 1994 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. Curtis held numerous positions of increasing responsibilities. Curtis received numerous distinguished awards and commendations throughout his career in the military. Curtis was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserved Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Texas Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal, the Texas Faithful Service Medal, the Texas Medal of Merit, the Texas Federal Service Medal, and the Adjutant General’s Individual Award just to name a few.
Curtis found great joy in the daily task on his ranch, From a young age Curtis was an avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed spending time gardening and tending to his lawn. He truly enjoyed being outside surrounded by his land. He also had a true talent for woodworking, Curtis could often be found in his shop constructing beautiful handmade gifts. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great grandchildren and always enjoyed watching them play and listening to their stories.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Argent Court Assisted Living staff and the Amedysis Hospice Care staff for their continuous and loving care of Curtis.
A celebration of Curtis’s life will be held on Wednesday May 10, 2023 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop.
Visitation will be from 9:00am -10:00am with funeral services beginning at 10:00am followed by a graveside service with Military Honors at Hendrix Cemetery.
