Donald Wayne Cody was born in Bastrop, Texas on August 30, 1949 and left this life on February 14, 2017 after a lengthy illness.
Don or "Buddy" as he was known to his family, was raised in Bastrop, and graduated from Bastrop High School in 1970. While in high school he was a member of the golf team, where he gained a love of golf and spent many hours on the golf course at the Bastrop State Park.
During his career, he obtained his Master Electrician's license and owned his own business for a while. He later worked for Travis County and retired from there due to health problems.
Buddy was also known for his love of fishing and spent many hours on the Colorado River catching catfish and enjoying the outdoors. In his later life, he spent time at his property at the Lake, catching trout in Lake Bastrop. The highlights of his life were the times he spent with his two children, Nicholas and Kimberly, fishing, golfing and traveling.
He is preceded in death by his father, Earnest Charles Cody, mother Merlie Inez Cody and his beloved son Nicholas Ryan Cody who was killed at the age of 22 by a drunk driver. He leaves behind his daughter Kimberly Diane Cody of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, sister Aloha Cody, brother Clifford Cody, both of Bastrop, brother Terry "Sam" Cody of El Paso plus several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Buddy's life was held Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas.
