Doris Cook

Doris Marie Goertz Cook went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27, 2018 in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 86. She was born in Rockne, Texas on October 6, 1931 to Joe B. and Anna M. Goertz. She lived a busy life on the farm with her siblings Thomas, Francis, Bernard, Raymond, Anita and Theresa. Doris was swept off her feet by the love of her life, Ramon J. Cook and they were married August 1, 1953 in California. Together they had nine children. After raising them, Doris and Ramon were able to travel to places all across the US and around the world that she had only dreamed of as a child. Doris enjoyed spending time with loved ones and working with her hands doing quilting, cross stitching and crocheting. She made hundreds of quilts, afghans, hat and booties and Christmas ornaments which were given away to oncology patients, babies in hospitals, fundraisers for churches and as gifts for family members and friends. Her work won blue ribbons at county fairs and competitions throughout the years. She never knew a stranger and cared for all those around her, so much so there was rarely time for herself. Doris is predeceased by her parents, brothers, and son Gary. She is survived by Ramon, their children Joseph, Robert, Kathleen, Margaret, John, Mary, Helen, and Christopher and her sisters. She also lovingly leaves twenty-two grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Doris had a deep love for the Lord as well as for her family and will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Visitation and Rosary will be held at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home on Monday, July 30, 2018. The visitation will begin at 5:00pm and the Rosary at 7:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will held at 10:30 on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas with Interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
