Edward "Shorty" Maurice Lowden, 85, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021, at his home in Bastrop, Texas.
Edward was born November 3, 1936 in Bastrop, Texas. He would go on to join the National Guard on May 1, 1958 to April 1964 and in 1962, he was called to active duty. In April of 1961, he would marry the love of his life, wife of 60 years, Generosa Lowden.
Edward worked for Bastrop Ford in 1961, and in 1963, worked for Leif Johnson Ford. In 1973, he would go on to own his own business, Lowden’s Automotive, for 28 years and retired in 2001. Edward loved participating in the boat races on the Colorado River, hunting, fishing, feeding and watching the deer in his front yard, feeding the squirrels, working with the cattle he owned, he loved all his pets, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dovie Mae Lowden.
Edward is survived by his wife, Generosa Lowden; daughter, Brenda Moore (Randy) and their children, Kellie Braune and Ashley Tolley; daughter, Terri French (Jimmy) and their children, Ryan Lowden, Aaron and Clint French; son, Ronnie Lowden; son, Brandt Lowden (Tabatha) and their children, Emily, Hailey, Lillie, Branson and Mason Lowden; sister, Judy Russell (Mike); nephews Kevin and Keith Boatright; 10 great grandchildren;
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 12, from 4:00pm-6:00pm in the chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop. Funeral services will be Monday, December 13, at 11:00am in the chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home followed by interment in Fairview cemetery.
