Enedina “Nina” Martinez, age 88, joined her Lord on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Born on November 17, 1935, in Bastrop County, she was the daughter of Jose and Virginia Barron.
Nina was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pete Martinez, her parents, as well as her brother Rudy Barron and sister-in-law Dolores Barron.
She is survived by her niece Belynda Hoefer, her nephew Robbie Barron, along with her grandnieces and nephews: Erin Ryza, Destiny Stivers, Joshua Hoefer, Derek Hoefer, Heather Hernandez, Bethany Hoefer, and Jacob Hoefer, and nine great-grandnieces and nephews.
Nina graduated from Bastrop High School in 1956 and later earned her diploma in Executive Secretarial Studies from Nixon Clay Commercial College. She dedicated 30 years to the Texas Department of Health, retiring as a manager in 1991.
Nina was a woman of exceptional intelligence and grace. Her faith, kindness, and elegance made a lasting impression on everyone she encountered, leaving behind a legacy of respect and admiration. Her deep commitment to her family and her faith was evident in every aspect of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and her church community, who cherished her warmth and the love she brought to their lives.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, located at 505 Old Austin Hwy, Bastrop, TX 78602.
Funeral Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Primera Baptist Church, 306 Paul C Bell St, Bastrop, TX 78602. Burial will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery.
