Georgia Barnard

Georgie Annette Barnard “Nanny” was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on August 10, 2021 at age 84, after a quiet, but long bout with diabetes and congestive heart failure.

Georgie was born to Alvin Kalinec and Margaret Martinka on April 3, 1937, and grew up in Granger, TX. She was one of five children. Georgie graduated from Granger High School in 1954. In June of 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Ray Barnard. They moved to Taylor, TX where they had 2 children: Sandra and Randal.

Following Jim’s passing in 1964, Georgie moved to Red Rock, TX, and pursued a business degree at Durham’s Business College. Soon after graduation, she began her 35
year career at Tracor/Tremetrics. Georgie loved working in the electronics industry and made many life long friends. It was during this journey that the Murphy’s became family.

Georgie was an avid Catholic and had a great love for the Lord, attending most masses at Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop, TX. Her devotion led her to the Jubilee of Mercy in 2016. An Extraordinary Jubilee that happens every 25 years and serves as a reminder of God’s providence and mercy. Georgie also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her brothers and sisters, and even met a celebrity on her trip home from Czechoslovakia. She had a deep love for her family, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grand children during monthly family dinners and holidays.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ray Barnard; her father, Alvin Kalinec; her mother, Margaret Griffith; and her son-in-law Robert Wayne Justice.

Georgie is survived by her children, Sandra Kay Justice and Randal James Barnard; grandchildren, Christopher and Tassie Justice, Reneé and Chuck Davila, Robert and Monica Justice, and Jennifer Justice and Eric Goertz; great grand children, (10) Shawndra and Dustin Saunders, Cody Calvo, Dylan Justice, Emeril Justice, Kwen Justice, Tristen Heinzke, Tyler Justice, Sophia Justice, and Ryder Davila; great great grandchildren, (4) Rose Marie, Wyatt, Autumn, and Connor Saunders; siblings, (4) Marilyn Ethridge, Albert Kalinec, Bettye and Claude Carpenter, and Terry Griffith; and nephews, (3) Al Pernitza, Michael Pernitza, Kevin Carr.

The funeral services for Georgie Annette Barnard will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at the Ascension Catholic Church Bastrop, 804 Pine Street, Bastrop, TX.
Viewing is from 9:00am-9:30am. The rosary is from 9:30am-10:00am. And mass begins at 10:00am. Graveside services will be at approximately 11:00am at Bateman Cemetery, at the intersection of FM 20 and FM 86. Meal to follow at Sacred Heart Church School House in Rockne, Texas.
