Georgia Funderburk

Georgia Lee Funderburk was the third daughter of six born to Julius and Helen (Vydrzal) Williams on February 21, 1935 in Cistern and raised in Bastrop, TX. She was called from this life on June 25, 2021.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Julie Strickland (Lewis) and Ruby Moderow (Bill) and husband Mitchell Funderburk.

She is survived by sisters Delphine Stall (Johnny), Anna Joyce Mundell, and Zelma Beck (Leroy) and her close friend Robert Stall.

Georgia’s first union to Oscar Friske blessed them with four children, Gary (Joyce Elaine), Joyce, Michael (Deceased), and Cathy (Eric),  12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Georgia attended Bastrop ISD public schools and was on the girls first H.S. Basketball team.  She was certified as a Dental Assistant and enjoyed many years in that profession.

Her utmost enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was an all-hands Nanny and loved playing with the little ones and having engaging conversations with the older ones.

Georgia lived life to its fullest until she was called home.  She was a volunteer with the Czech Heritage Center in La Grange for 20+ years.  She also volunteered for the Rockne Museum and the St. Ann’s Society (Sacred Heart Catholic Church).  She received much joy from her church fellowship and did not let COVID stop her from attending.

Georgia was greatly loved and admired and will be missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be at 6:00pm and the Rosary at 7:00pm on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Holtman Hall at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne.

The funeral mass will be at 10:30am on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne and burial will follow the services at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
