Guadalupe A. Castillo

Guadalupe Aguilar Castillo, 80, of Bastrop, Texas, was called by God Friday, December 13, in the comfort of her home. 

Guadalupe Castillo or Tia Lupe as all her nieces, nephews, and their friends called her, was humble, wise, firm, no nonsense and focused. She was very religious and her believe in God was so strong that she always held to the teaching of her Catholic faith. Her membership started as a child, when the old Church was located at the corner of Water street and Chestnut Street. The church was named Sacred Heart during that time. Later the new Church was built and her membership continued as a member of Ascension Catholic Church which was the name later given to the new Catholic Church when it was built.  Her support of the church functions started during her teenage years. She would help serve tea at the bazaars and then help with clean up duties. Always as a volunteer who could be counted on to assist wherever help was needed at the bazars until this year of 2024, due to health reasons. 

She was proceeded in death by her parents Gregorio and Luisa Castillo, some of her siblings, and some of her nieces. She was always ready to help her nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews whenever they needed direction or had a dilemma. She always considered them as her children.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm  and the Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home located at 505 Old Austin Highway in Bastrop, Texas.  

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Monday December 30, 2024 at the Ascension Catholic Church located at 804 Pine Street in Bastrop, Texas with burial following at the Alta Vista Cemetery.
