Harold E Glass, of Bastrop, Texas, passed away December 6, 2017. He was born to Prudie (Needham) and Fielding Glass in Austin on May 10, 1936.
Harold's fondest childhood memories were playing baseball, fishing and hunting. In 1956 he joined the Army, fulfilling one of his earliest ambitions.
He loved to listen to old country music, smoke and drink. Harold's loved old country songs - Merle Haggard's "Okie from Muskogee" and "Mama Tried" and the works of Waylon Jennings and George Jones. His fondest memories were having barbeques with family and friends and listening to old country music. Visits from his family, especially his grandchildren, always made him smile.
During his lifetime, Harold worked as a truck driver and painter. He was proud that he had painted the UT basketball court floor.
Three of Harold's four siblings preceded him in death: Annie Marion Glass-McVey, Raymond Dale Glass and James Rodney Glass. He is survived by a large family. He leaves behind his sister, Janice Carol Glass Johnston; four children: Debra Sue Berry (Brad), Beverly Ann Wilson (Mike), Karen Diane New (Travis) and Tracy Dale Glass (Lisa); seventeen grandchildren: Christopher, Chelsea, Brandy, Misty, Joshua, Jennifer, Brittney, Stephen, Justin, Courtney, Gregory, Aaron, Brandi, Brandon, Bryce, Aaron and Cameran; twenty-nine great-grandchildren: Danielle, Whitney, Bradley, Nathan, Ellie, Kyle, Kolby, Kalley, Wyatt, GraceLynn, Brooks, Kinley, Audrey, Zoe, Avery, Lauren, Mason, Jacob, Jaxon, Dakota, Denton, Dayden, Caryle, Joselyn, Landyn, Haven, Zaryn, Caysen and Cade; and two great - great-grandchildren: Landon and Laykyn.
Private family services were held on December 8, 2017. His final place of rest is Haynie Chapel Cemetery in Garfield, Texas.
