May 9, 2023 Herman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born 6/30/1958 in Portsmouth, NH. He was a family man that enjoyed his time with his wife, sons, granddaughters, nieces and nephews. He loved fishing, camping, hunting and most outdoor activities. He was active in scouting when his sons were younger. He also enjoyed a quiet evening at home watching tv or playing pool.
At age 17 he enlisted in the army and served proudly. Another milestone that meant a lot to him was when he received his bachelor degree in chemical engineering from New Mexico State University leading to a career as a chemical engineer.
He was preceded in death by his birth father Herman H Vest, Sr., his beloved grandparents Jack and Bertha Huddleston, Uncle Bill Wheeler, Uncle Cecil Huddleston, and various cousins. He leaves behind his loving wife Donna, cherished sons Derek (Melinda), Dustin and Justin, granddaughters Amber and Jasmine. In addition, he left behind his beloved parents Ruthie and Bill Baughman, his brothers and sisters Glenn Vest (Deanne), Barbara Watson, Sandra Eubanks (Phillip) and Robert Vest (Elizabeth), his aunt Barbara Wheeler, his many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Herman had a lot of friends that will dearly miss him.
His service will be held at noon this Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Memory Lawn Memorial Park located at 19106 San Marcus Hwy in Martindale, TX. He will be receiving military honors. The funeral home is Marrs-Jones-Newby in Bastrop, Texas. He was a very kind person that loved helping others especially children. In lieu of flowers Herman requested donations to be made in his honor to St Jude, Bastrop Honor Choir who's first priority is to help the Children's Advocacy Center's efforts to prevent child abuse or a charity of your choice.
