Hollis West

Hollis Steve West, 82, of Austin, Texas passed away on January 25, 2021 in Bastrop, Texas.  Burial is Monday, February 1, 2021 at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.

Steve was born in Austin, Texas to C.F. “Pete” and Angeleen West on June 11, 1938 as the second brother of twins.  He attended school in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas in 1960 with a B.S. in Pharmacy.

He married Dixie Kay Gibbons on April 9, 1977 in Austin. Steve worked as a pharmacist for Sommers Drugs and Ace Drug in Austin for a number of years.  He also worked in Elgin, Texas and Taylor, Texas as a pharmacist.  Steve was deacon, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir of Wyldwood Baptist Church in Cedar Creek, Texas.  He had also volunteered with Bastrop Little League and Bastop ISD.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Cleve.   He is survived by his wife, Dixie; two sons, Anthony Benson West and wife Jen and Andrew Campbell West and wife Amanda; brother R. Jay West and wife Emily, sister-in-law Linda P. West ; and three precious granddaughters, Cora Kaye West, Virginia Scarlett West, and Edie Antoinette West.
