James “Jamie” Barnhill Sawyer,59, of Bastrop, TX, passed away on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1964, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to parents, Joseph and Pamela Sawyer.
Jamie received his High School Diploma from Texarkana High School, and continued in his education and obtained his Bachelor of Accounting degree from Tarleton State University. Growing up he lived in Pontiac, IL, Texarkana, TX, Stephenville, TX, and then his final move was to Bastrop, TX.
Jamie enjoyed reading and developed a love for cars, but one of the things he enjoyed the most was going on movie & restaurant dates with his companion Julie Sixta.
He had a passion for his career in Retail and Food management with many different companies including the “Chicago Deli” in Stephenville in which he owned and operated for some time. In his last 11 years he has been a dedicated and faithful team member at the H-E-B Bastrop location.
Jamie is survived by his parents; Joseph and Pamela Sawyer; his brother Joe Sawyer and wife Jennifer; his sister Jennifer Rushford and husband Chris, as well as his nieces and nephews; Krista Rushford, Matthew Sawyer and Daniel Sawyer.
In honor of Jamie’s life, a Rosary and Time of Reflection will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, 505 Old Austin Hwy, Bastrop, TX, 78602. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held following services at the Hampton Inn & Suites in the Texas Grand Ballroom, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 240 S Hasler Blvd, Bastrop, TX 78602.
