Mrs. Jewell Cottle, a longtime resident of Bastrop, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, in Cedar Park.
Visitation and funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 in the chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM followed by funeral services at 12:00PM. Graveside services and interment will then follow in the Elgin Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
Mrs. Cottle was born on July 15, 1919, on a farm west of Elgin, the daughter of Cam and Ethel Wilson. She married Aubrey Cottle in Bastrop in October, 1935. They lived many years on the Elgin Butler Brick plant between Elgin and McDade and were active members of the Elgin Methodist Church. She worked for Eli Aronson in the grocery business in Elgin. Prior to retirement they built a home on the river in Bastrop, where they eventually moved after retirement and became active in the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop. Her husband preceded her in death in 1981.
She is survived by two sons and their spouses, including Bennie and Donna Cottle of Leander and Ronnie and Ruby Cottle of Fredericksburg. Survivors also include six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop or to the charity of choice.
