John Martinez, Jr.

John Martinez Jr., 66, beloved Father, was called home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2020. He entered this world on November 11, 1953, in Austin, TX, born to John and Viola Martinez. He is survived by his seven children: Magnolia Welker, Samuel Martinez, Peter Martinez, Sarah Martinez, Joshua Martinez, Jordan Martinez, and Matthew Martinez. In addition, he is survived by his loving mother, Viola, and his two brothers, Robert Martinez and Jose Martinez and their respective families. He also has seven beautiful grandchildren: Noah, Lillian, Eva Rose, Talan, Blake, River, and Brooklyn. John graduated from Bastrop High School in the class of 1972. He was Captain Football Tackle in high school and furthered his football career at Lamar University. He lettered in 1975 for Varsity Football at Lamar and graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Kinesiology. John spent his career working for the State of Texas in various sectors, beginning in Juvenile Probation and ultimately retiring at the Office of the Attorney General in Austin, Texas. He had a passion for music and animal rescue. John will be remembered as a kind and gentle man to all who knew or met him. He will be forever missed and loved by all of his friends and family.
