Margaret Dean Ellis, 81 of Bastrop Texas passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. David’s South Austin Hospital. Margaret was born to William Porter Collins and Myrtle Dove Collins In Austin,Tx on July 31, 1943.
She had a love for history and genealogy .She was involved in a few clubs: L A Turner UDC-daughters of the Confederacy, Lost Pines. DAR-Daughters of the Republic of Texas and also Tops in Bastrop Texas. She was a breast cancer survivor at 37 years old. She took experimental medication to help other women who might develop it. Research using her was able to help many others.
She is predeceased by her daughter JoAnn Ellis Beck of Bastrop, Tx. She is also predeceased by her siblings. Brothers include: Ernest Lee Collins and Clyde Newton Collins. Sisters include: Lily Collins – Biggs, Betty Jean Collins McBride and Carolina Collins.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Ellis of Bastrop, Texas and her Daughters, Darlene Lundgren and spouse Mark Lundren of Elgin, Texas. Sara Schiller Bastrop, Texas. Elizabeth Hawthorne and spouse Walter Hawthorne of Caldwell, Texas.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Matthew Helgren, Joshua Schiller, Candace Popp, Amanda Popp, James Ellis, Ashley Donahue, Jasmine Wade, Amy Pickering, Erin Hurst, Zachary Wright and Sam Wade. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Carson Schiller, Amira Ledesma, Nilaya Popp, Avery Salguero, Caleb Donahue, Landon Donahue, Bentley Donahue, Lane Hurst, Paislee Hurst, Mason Hurst, Callan Hurst and Stetson Wright.
Margaret’s wish was not to have a viewing or traditional funeral only a small intimate graveside gathering for immediate family members .
Margaret will be laid to rest at Upper Cedar Creek Cemetery.
