Mary Gracedel passed away peacefully January 1, 2020 at the age of 99.
She was a teacher, a 62 year member of the Eastern Star, a cake baker and decorator, and a friend to many she included as family. She was an avid reader and lover of books. She was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, spaghetti, handmade quilts, and her willingness to help others.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Sims; grandsons,Mike Cleveland, Joel Sims; great-grandsons, Eric Cleveland, Thomas Sims, Richard Hanselman III, Deven Sims; and great-granddaughter, Phoenix Sims.
Donations may be made to the Friends of the Bastrop Library or simply pay it forward with a good deed or an act of kindness in honor of Mary Gracedel.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 11:00am on January 11, 2020 at the Hampton Inn Ballroom. The Hampton Inn is located at 240 South Hasler in Bastrop, Texas.
Following the service the celebration will continue with food and fellowship. Guests are invited to bring a side dish. Please stay and share your stories and memories of Mary Gracedel.
