Mary Kay Landrum, a devoted wife, mother, friend, and dedicated schoolteacher, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Austin, TX, on December 13, 1943, she was the eldest of two children.
Mary Kay graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, TX, before attending Southwest Texas State College, where she met and fell in love with Ronald Landrum. They were married on August 22, 1962. Mary Kay earned her degree in Education in 1965 and went on to teach for 38 years in Bastrop, TX. She was passionate about education and deeply loved the children she taught.
She loved traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary Kay will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She found great joy in being with her beloved grandchildren, Audrey and Ryan, and touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and generosity.
Mary Kay is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ronald Lee Landrum; her brother, Frank Sammis; her son, Mike Landrum; her daughter-in-law, Tracy Landrum; and her grandchildren, Audrey Pieri and husband Everett and Ryan Landrum and his wife Mary. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Episcopal Church.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Calvary Episcopal Church followed by a service at 10:00 AM. The address for the visitation and service is 603 Spring St., Bastrop, TX 78602-3226. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating her life and legacy.
