Pamela Jeanne (Shirley) McCrocklin, “Pam”, of Red Rock, Texas, passed away on June 18, 2021, at the age of 67, at Ascension Seton Memorial Hospital Austin, from complications of pneumonia and encephalopathy. Pam was born in Monterey, California, in 1954, to parents, Jess Gray Shirley and Sally Jeanne (Greenleaf) Shirley.
Pam’s early career was in corporate banking, and she was made a branch manager at the age of 26, which was unheard of at the time. During that time, she volunteered with Soroptimist International.Later she honed an artistic touch, and started a successful business named “Shirley to Please”, making wearable art to sell at shows around the western USA. Her passion for art took many forms, including painting, stained glass, jewelry, and beading. She created in all those media, as long as she could.Vacations were at the beach, including Jamaica, where she enjoyed going off the beaten path, even when the hotel warned her against it. According to her best friend, Pam would return from there “brown as a berry”. Pam made friends wherever she went, and in Jamaica she had a family of friends, who she visited every year.
When Pam met Lee in Grass Valley, California, in 1995, she said “The sky just opened up, and God placed him right in my life!”. She said she was not going back to Jamaica anytime soon! Pam and Lee were married in July, 1999, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Nevada City, California. Their honeymoon split between Lee’s favorite mountains, and the beaches of Aruba. Her garden was as bright as her personality. In 2003, Pam and Lee moved to central Texas, to Red Rock, outside of Austin. Her studio was the envy of many.
Pam was preceded in death by her father, Jess; and brother, James Shirley.
Pam is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Lee Frank McCrocklin; her Cocker Spaniel Bailey and Siamese cat Percival; niece, Ariana (Harting) Smith; siblings, Patti Shirley, David Shirley, Sandra Shirley, Marcella Shirley, Janet “Kate” Shirley; step mother, Patricia Shirley; and mother Sally.
