Cedar Creek

Richard James Walker of Cedar Creek, Texas, born on January 10, 1962, in Taylor, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was the cherished son of John and Margaret Pospisil, who preceded him in death during his childhood. Despite this early loss, Richard was blessed to be welcomed into the loving home of Lewin and Laverne Walker, whose nurturing care and steadfast faith in Christ shaped him into the godly man his family and friends knew and loved. Out of deep appreciation and devotion, Richard chose to take on the Walker name, a testament to the profound impact they had on his life.

A gifted self-taught musician, Richard found joy in playing the piano, organ, and keyboard, as well as in his beautiful singing voice. Music was not only a talent but also a calling that he used to glorify God and bless others.

On October 1, 1989, Richard proposed to Carol Lynn Blair, the love of his life, a day he often said was one of the best of his life. They had a deep and unspoken love and attraction, culminating in a two week engagement and a joyful wedding just two weeks later on October 14, 1989. Their bond grew even stronger with the births of their beloved children, Nathanael and Michaelyn Walker, born on March 1st 2001 and February 4th 2003 respectively. They stand as treasured milestones in their lives. He always said his family was the apple of his eye and his entire world.

Richard took great pride in his career. Enabled by his graduate education from Southwestern University, Georgetown, Richard spent 30 years in the tech industry, beginning with IBM. Most recently, he was employed with Goldstar transit for BISD, where he earned the affectionate nickname “Mr. Aloha.” His vibrant spirit and love for Hawaiian culture brought joy to his coworkers, leading to the beloved tradition of "Aloha Fridays" that soon became a daily celebration of island spirit.

A man of unwavering principles, Richard often said, "I will always live by principle, and die by principle." His dedication to integrity and ethical living left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Pospisil; his adoptive parents, Lewin and Laverne Walker; his uncles, Raymond Vanek and Joe Dobias; his aunts Mary Vanek Richter and Velma Newsome Hart; and his sister Patricia (Walker) Moehnke.

Together, Richard and Lynn served as worship leaders in their church communities, their harmonious musical talents creating a unique and memorable worship experience. His devotion to using his gifts for the Lord touched countless lives, inspiring many to seek a closer relationship with God.

Richard's mischievous laugh, playful spirit, and enormous heart will be deeply missed. His legacy of love, faith, and joyful celebration lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those blessed to know him. We know he's enjoying his new home in a true paradise.
