Thelma Walker Harris was born September 1, 1922 in Bremond, Texas to parents Howard C. and Veneta Walker. She passed away August 2, 2020 in Bastrop, Texas at the age of 97.
Thelma grew up in Bremond and married Dudley Jaggar soon after graduation from high school. She was a homemaker and raised two children while assisting in the operation of the family furniture business. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School classes and worked with the Methodist Women's service organization.
Though small in stature she was an avid deer hunter and often bagged the first deer on opening morning, much to the embarrassment of the crew of guys she hunted with. She also loved to fish and would stay on the lake as long as they would let her. On occasion she was known to drive a fire truck and a gasoline delivery truck
After the death of her first husband, Dudley, she continued to operate the Bremond Furniture Company for several years and married Kearne Harris. They enjoyed their years together while hunting, fishing and traveling. After his death Thelma moved to Conroe close to her daughter Pam. Then both moved to Bastrop where she lived the rest of her life.
Thelma was preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, and sister Jane Pierce.
She is survived by her brother, Clayton Walker and his wife Carole; daughters Pam Carroll and Jane Jaggar and husband Bill McPherson; step daughter Da Nette Andreski and husband Donald Ray; grandson Karl and his wife Heather; step grandchildren Shelly, Bart, Donnie, Donna and Dusty; fourteen great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
Thelma was a bright spot in the lives of those she touched and will be greatly missed by friends and family.
