Velma Ervin Sander,75, of Bastrop, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 after
a debilitating battle with Alzheimer's.
Velma was born on May 4, 1943, in Bastrop, to Dallas and Lola Ree Ervin, Sr. She
graduated from Bastrop High School in May 1961 and soon married the love her
life, George H. Sander. The couple moved to Houston where they lived for the next
35 years. Velma worked for ITT Snyder for 20 years before retiring in 1998.
After the death of her husband G.H., Velma moved back to Bastrop where she
became involved in community activities like Ladies Coffee at First National Bank.
Preceding Velma in death were her parents Dallas Ervin, Sr. and Lola Ervin; her
husband G.H. Sander and her brother Charles C. Ervin, Sr. She is survived by her
brother Dallas Ervin, Jr. and his wife Janet, of Allen, as well as her sister Bessie Hurst
and her husband, Larry, of Bastrop. Velma will be dearly missed by her many nieces
and nephews.
The family extends a special thank you to Velma's friends and neighbors for all their
assistance and support, as well as Argent Court, Dr. Lerma and Serenity Hospice for
