Zulema G. Vasquez, age 102, resident of Bastrop, Texas passed away on September 2, 2020. She was born February 27, 1918 in Bastrop to Samuel and Nemesia Garcia. She was a devoted mother and friend. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Zulema is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Julio Vasquez; brothers, Sam, Gam, and Dan Garcia; her sisters, Eudelia Gonzales, Amelia Villarreal, and Gregoria Delgado.
She is survived by 1 stepson; 3 stepdaughters; 19 nieces and nephews; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Zulema graduated from Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. In 1949 she graduated from Chicago Lying Inn Hospital. She chose to practice nursing in Obstetrics, which spanned over 39 years, from 1946 – 1985 when she retired as Director of Nursing.
She was a Christian who oved to be involved in all areas of her church. The most exciting and interesting activity the she performed was volunteer work with the missions in Mexico. Mission work was Zulema’s passion, which she performed for over 10 years until she was unable to participate due to her health.
